Our mission is to preserve, conserve and promote history, particularly the history of Knox and the former shires of Berwick and Ferntree Gully, and foster a sense of history and cultural enrichment of our members and the community.

    Visit Ambleside and take a step into the 19th century Homestead. You can be escorted by our friendly staff, or make your own way through the beautiful home and garden in the heart of Ferntree Gully.

    Knox Historical Society's Resource Centre contains an extensive collection of books, vertical file material, photographs, maps, audiotapes, videotapes, microfiche and microfilm, local newspapers and community newsletters providing information about the history of Knox and the former Shire of Ferntree Gully. It is important to note that this facility is not open to the public.
